Filling online

When filling out your prescription online, pay close attention and make sure you copy the information exactly as it appears on the prescription page you are holding
A brief explanation of the prescription terms:

OD - OCULUS DEXTROUS OR RIGHT EYE (RE)
OS - OCULUS SINISTER OR LEFT EYE (LE)

SPH

This refers to the spherical component of the prescription, the power of the lens being the same in all directions
This number starts from +/- 0.25 Dioptres and up
PL= Zero or 0.00

CYL

This refers to a cylinder component of a prescription. If this appears empty or 0.00 then you do not have a cylinder in your glasses.
This part of the prescription corrects the astigmatism where the front surface of the eye or Cornea is not round but rather elliptical.
A cylinder in affect gives a correction in one direction (meridian) only and therefore always appears with an axis or angle. The axis is anywhere between 0-180 degrees.

AXIS

This is the angle of the cylinder
Most prescriptions appear in the (-) minus cylinder format.
Some prescription may appear in a (+) cylinder format.
Make sure you copy the prescription exactly as it appears and simply pay attention to the signs.

Anti-scratch + UV

Anti-scratch is a layer of coating that reduces delicate scratches
Anti-scratch coating contains UV protection which protects the eyes from the dangerous UV rays emitted from the sun
We know that the sun's rays are not only dangerous to our skin but can cause eye problems too, including cataract and other corneal and retinal complications.
Scratched lenses cause a major decrease in the quality of vision and can result in discomfort caused by the scattering of the light as a result of the scratches

Anti-Reflex coating

This coating substantially enhances our vision, more light enters the eye and the glare is reduced due to anti-reflex coating
This is very important for night time driving and working on the computer
Anti-reflex coating improves the aesthetics of the lens; the eyes are more visible and reflections off the lens are reduced. This effect is most noticeable when having a picture taken
The anti-reflex coating always includes the anti-scratch + UV coating

Superior Anti Reflex
